Background
Films for the Earth is an environmental education association active in the DACH region that aims to inform, sensitise and activate with environmental documentaries. For 11 years, Films for the Earth has been the centre of excellence for film and sustainability. An educational initiative awarded by UNESCO.
The Films for the Earth Festival takes place once a year. It is held at 15-18 locations throughout Switzerland and last year reached over 18,700 pupils and visitors. The next Films for the Earth Festival will take place from 20 to 30 October 2022 (public cinema) and on 18 November (school cinema). At last year's event, the school cinema in particular provided many great experiences. We want to build on this and reach even more people by hosting the festival in Arosa.
The topic of sustainability has had a high priority in Arosa for many years and is being developed consistently and according to plan. We are convinced that films can have an impact, open eyes and inspire action.

Idea
From the retina straight into the heart! The three initiators of the Arosa Nature Laboratory would like to bring the Films for the Earth Festival to Arosa. As a festival satellite, we want to provide knowledge transfer, inspiration, innovation and exchange. All target groups may be sensitised to the interrelationships of climate and nature protection. The focus is on the big picture. In addition, visitors are motivated to become active themselves. Everyone can start with themselves in order to make a contribution to a somewhat "better world". Every step, no matter how small, is an important step in this direction. Let us never forget that nature conservation is worthwhile, because man is nature!

The visit to the Films for the Earth Festival-Satellite in Arosa is open to everyone and is therefore free of charge. We want to encourage our guests and locals to be more sustainable and, as a festival satellite, create awareness, encourage action - and demonstrate with the films what is worth preserving.
The donations will cover the licences and fees for the films and the festival, which is expected to take place at the Arosa Natur Labor (Poststrasse 65). The exact film programme will follow. All donations received over and above the target will help us to build up a supporting programme. Many thanks for your support!

The climate crisis and biodiversity loss are among the great challenges of our time. With appropriate awareness and knowledge, we begin to question our actions and initiate change. The Films for the Earth Festival offers this opportunity with exciting documentaries. With the different films and the exchange, various grievances, but also possible solutions are shown, which make us think. Especially in the mountains, the changes in climate and environment are very evident - making Arosa a very fitting venue.
