Project SummaryThe Healing Summer Camp in Davos supports children and teenagers with severe atopic dermatitis by providing a high-altitude climate, medical supervision, skin therapy, and psychosocial care. This campaign aims to raise 15,000 CHF so that five additional children from the waiting list can secure a spot at the camp.

Background

Children and adolescents with severe atopic dermatitis often suffer from chronic itching, inflamed skin, sleep deprivation, and psychological distress. The condition has a profound impact on the daily lives of affected children and their families and can also lead to social withdrawal and isolation.
The Healing Summer Camp in Davos offers these children a unique opportunity to find relief. The low-allergen high-mountain climate, medical supervision, and psychosocial support help alleviate symptoms and give them renewed strength for daily life.
However, demand far exceeds the number of currently funded spots. Overall, we would like to enable as many of the approximately 225 registered children and adolescents as possible to participate. Currently, around 100 spots are secured, with over 100 children still on the waiting list. With total funding of approximately CHF 630,000, we are currently still short by around CHF 250,000.

Idea

The Healing Summer Camp combines the positive effects of the high-altitude climate with medical, therapeutic, and psychosocial support. Over the course of five weeks in Davos, children with severe atopic dermatitis receive targeted skin therapy, medical care, resilience training, group activities, and support for their families.
Donations from this campaign will enable 5 additional children to participate. Approximately 3,000 CHF is needed per child. Every funded spot means that a child can be removed from the waiting list and definitively admitted.

Implementation

The camp will take place in Davos from June 16 to July 19, 2026. The event is guaranteed to go ahead. To ensure that 5 additional children can be accepted, the Arzi Foundation, acting as a lender, has pre-financed the amount of 15,000 CHF.
Donations will be used to cover the costs of these additional camp spots. The cost per child is approximately 3,000 CHF. This funding will specifically help cover accommodation, meals, medical care, skin therapy, psychosocial support, parent coaching, and other camp expenses.
Some of the services are provided by volunteers, and the organizing team also does the cooking themselves. For this reason, the costs cannot be allocated to individual items down to the exact franc. One thing is clear, however: every franc helps make it possible for more children to participate and covers the total costs of the camp. If more funds are raised, an additional child can be admitted for approximately 3,000 CHF each.

Initiators

The project is supported by Kumi Uri, the Arzi Foundation, and the Davos High Altitude Clinic. Kumi Uri was founded in 2014 by Shulamit and Norman Burstein and is responsible for the camp’s operational management, the selection and supervision of the children, and their educational support. In addition, the organization supports affected families year-round via a 24/7 hotline and a digital training platform.
The Arzi Foundation, based in Zurich, is the tax-exempt Swiss partner organization and is responsible for receiving and earmarking donations. The medical quality of the camp is ensured by the Davos High Altitude Clinic, which specializes in atopic dermatitis, allergies, and skin health. This clear division of responsibilities creates transparency and ensures that the funds directly benefit the participating children.

Thanks to the generous support of many donors, the 2026 Healing Summer Camp in Davos was successfully completed. A total of 74 children and teenagers with severe atopic dermatitis received specialised care and support.

The 2026 Healing Summer Camp in Davos has come to a successful close. Thanks to the generosity of many donors, additional children from the waiting list were able to attend the programme and benefit from the unique combination of the Alpine climate, specialised medical care, skin therapy, and psychosocial support.

This summer, the programme welcomed 182 participants, including 74 children and teenagers living with severe atopic dermatitis and 14 accompanying parents or adult participants who are also affected by the condition. All admitted children met the programme's strict medical admission criteria, with an average SCORAD score above 60, indicating severe atopic dermatitis. Of the 74 children, 45 were classified as very severe cases, and 38 of them were not receiving biological treatment.

The camp was supported by 25 dedicated volunteers and staff members, alongside medical professionals, ensuring that every child received close individual attention and daily care throughout the programme. This high level of personal support remains one of the key strengths of the Healing Summer Camp.

We are delighted that this year's programme once again provided so many children and their families with relief, hope, and renewed confidence.
