Give the gift of children's laughter
Project SummaryThe dream doctors of the Theodora Foundation bring moments of joy, lightheartedness, and imagination to children in hospitals and specialized institutions. Their visits help to break up stressful everyday situations and strengthen the children's emotional well-being in the long term. A donation of CHF 5,000 enables 125 of these valuable visits to children.
Background
The Theodora Foundation was established in 1993 on the initiative of brothers André and Jan Poulie, who named the foundation after their mother, Theodora. As a child, André Poulie had to spend several months in hospital following an accident. The regular visits from his mother, Theodora, brought him great joy.
Many years later, these experiences gave the two brothers the idea of giving children in hospitals and specialized institutions the same opportunity.

Idea
The visits from the dream doctors mean much more than just laughter. Numerous scientific studies have proven the benefits of laughter and play in healthcare. The presence of professional artists strengthens the psychological well-being of children and creates an environment that supports the healing process. By distracting the children and playfully redirecting their attention, the Dream Doctors also make the daily work of the nursing staff easier.

The Theodora Foundation is now established throughout Switzerland and is recognized as a charitable foundation. In response to the enthusiasm of nursing staff, children, and families, seven specific programs have been developed in collaboration with hospitals and specialized institutions. As a result, the Dream Doctors of the Theodora Foundation are now a key figure in children's hospitals and specialized institutions in Switzerland.
Thanks to the tremendous solidarity of private donors and companies, young patients receive visits from our artists. The Theodora Foundation continuously monitors its expenses and attaches great importance to the transparent use of funds. 80% of donations go directly to the foundation's core mission: current and future visits by dream doctors to young patients. 13% is used for fundraising and communication, and the remaining 7% serves as support for our European program activities in Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
