I saw Emma 2 years ago, as a calf, on a farm and immediately fell in love with her! Thereupon I went to visit Emma every day by bike and built a relationship with her. Then came the terrible day when the farmer told me that Emma, who was now about 5 months old, would soon be sent to the slaughterhouse. I was speechless and paralyzed. It felt like someone was pulling the rug out from under my feet. In the meantime, I had already taken Emma into my heart as much as others do with their dogs. I didn't want to lose her for anything in the world. So I decided to fight for her life! I searched for a long time for a suitable solution. Then I had the daring idea to buy Emma free! Thereupon a very long process starts, in which I did not know for a long time whether I could manage it all. I knew that buying Emma back would not be enough. I also had to find a new home where she would feel comfortable. But in the end, with a lot of strength and commitment, I managed to save Emma from the slaughterhouse and give her a free life! She now lives with her KUHlen friends and conspecifics on a life yard half an hour away from me. As often as I can, I visit Emma and share our common experiences with the people out there.
First, of course, I want to continue to care for Emma. A cow may not need the same petting as a dog, but it's still a costly endeavor to provide Emma with what she needs. The core idea behind my project is to show people how VALUABLE animals are and what a strong connection between humans and animals is possible! I want to set a sign for all the animals, on which the inevitable fate is unfortunately still waiting... It is time to go new ways. For us, the animals and our earth!
I need the help of like-minded people and people who want to make a difference like me. I need YOUR HELP to finance Emma's upkeep. The living costs for Emma are CHF 250 per month. This includes the space for Emma, the shelter, the food and the work of the staff of the Lebenshof. The costs for one year therefore amount to CHF 3'000. However, I would like to secure the living costs for two years. That means my goal is to raise CHF 6'000. This sum will give me the necessary time to find further sponsorships for Emma. The current Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting bad economic situation still make it difficult to find enough donations. In addition, as an intern, I do not earn enough to cover all the costs alone.
I am Emilie, 15 years old and have realized a dream with my project "the life of the cow Emma", which I have set up myself. I love animals more than anything and feel very connected to them and nature. I like to be outside as often as possible, to do sports and to enjoy time with Emma. As a trainee care specialist my income is still very low, but what I can spare I invest in my project, in my Emma. More than a year ago, this project was realised thanks to generous donations. Emma is now 4 years old and enjoys a wonderful life at the Lebenshof. Emilie has been overwhelmed by the support she has received during the project and to date. She never expected this! This project shows not only the fate of a single cow, but of millions of other farm animals. Emilie hereby draws attention to factory farming and excessive meat consumption. Especially in industrialized countries, the almost daily consumption of meat is still common and rightly questionable. Thousands of hectares of forest have already been cleared for factory farming and misused as cultivation areas for animal feed. This reduces the proportion of plants that store large amounts of CO2 and convert it into fresh air to breathe. Emilie sets a sign with Emma against these two problems: Exploitation of livestock and intensification of global warming through deforestation.
