Land for Furaha Kids School
Project SummaryIn January 2022, the Furaha Kids Foundation succeeded in building an orphanage in Uganda, Iganga district, Kasolo village. Now they want to give these children the same access to education as children from rich families. Therefore, they are planning to build their own school. Help to finance the purchase of land for the school!
In January 2022, the furaha kids foundation (F.K.F) succeeded in building an orphanage in Uganda, Iganga district, Kasolo village. There are 40 children living in this orphanage, most of them are orphans and children from poor families. The foundation currently supports 32 pupils going to school.
One of the most important problems facing education in Uganda is the deterioration of schools and school facilities across the country. Over 90% of funding for public education has to come from state and local governments. But states are providing less money today than they used to. There are currently 32 primary schools in the Busoga region. These schools are for-profit and therefore many families cannot afford education.
Weconsidereducationas a fundamental rightforeverychild, regardlessoftheirreligion, origin, maritalstatus, ethnicity, physicalabilities and otherdifferences. Therefore, F.K.Fhasdecidedto plan theconstructionof a pre-primary and primaryschool in Uganda togivemarginalisedchildren and childrenfrommiddle-incomefamiliesthe same accesstoqualityeducationaschildrenfromrichfamilies.
In order to be able to realise this school project, we need your financial support. Only then can we buy the land and start the construction. Provided the fundraising target can be reached, the project will start in January 2023. With the fundraising target of 7,000 Swiss francs, we can buy 4 hectares of land. Surplus donations will be used for the construction of the school. Once the project is completed, we will offer free schooling. The F.K.F. will manage and coordinate the whole project. For this purpose, an experienced local construction manager will be hired to supervise the construction workers. The project coordinators will report to the F.K.F. office in Kasolo,. The programme manager will then send a centrally compiled report to donors and stakeholders. Videos will also be posted on all our social media. Our long-term goal is to provide free education to 700 underprivileged children.
FURAHA KIDS FOUNDATION is a community-basedorganisationestablished in 2018 and registered as a non-profit organisation in 2021. Wearelocated in Kasolovillage, Igangadistrict, in the Eastern regionof Uganda. In itsshorthistory, severalprojectshavebeenimplemented in Igangabyfurahakidsfoundation, someofwhichhavebeensupportedbythere-for-you.
With the donations already pledged, we are able to buy 2.5 hectares of land. This will enable us to start the construction of the school in a timely manner. Therefore, we have decided to adjust the project target to 4'500 CHF.
First of all, we would like to thank everyone who offered their support for the Furaha Kids Foundation (F.K:F.) project. We appreciate very much that you are willing to help us.
With the donated money of 4'500 CHF we will be able to buy 2.5 hectares of land. This is a good start for us. This way we can start building the school promptly and soon have the possibility to teach the first children. Therefore, we have decided to adjust the donation target to 4'500 CHF. 60% of the target reached - help bring the project to the finish line!
Thanks to the large donations from Galenica and Swisscom, the project has already reached 60% of the donation target. The initiators of the project have taken this as an opportunity to say thank you with a video and a short message.

As you can see in this video, there was happiness and joy here at the Furaha kids foundation after we reached 60% of the funds needed. To the delight of the children, we held a small celebration. We will send the donation receipt (for Switzerland) in January of the following year.
Theoretically, every child in Uganda has access to free primary education. However, the reality is quite different. Many schools are privately owned and therefore not free. Often these schools are run for profit and charge high school fees. For this reason, many families cannot afford to send their children to school. As a result, only about one third of the children complete primary school. With this project, children affected by poverty have the chance to attend school and receive a free education. With the chance of schooling, marginalised children of Kasolo village get better prospects for the future.
