Promoting effective entrepreneurship in Kenya – the Aiducation Start-up Award
Project SummaryAiducation supports young entrepreneurs in Kenya with its Start-up Award, thereby strengthening sustainable economic development in the region. We would like to organise the next award together with several Swiss SMEs.
Background
Aiducation International provides long-term support to talented young people – from high school through further education to the transition into working life. The aim is to open up sustainable prospects for their future. However, even with a good education, a secure job is not a given in many countries in the Global South. Entrepreneurship offers talented graduates the opportunity to generate their own income, create jobs and take control of their future.

The Aiducation Start-up Award, which originated from the 1,000 Young Entrepreneurs Initiative, supports young entrepreneurs under the age of 30 in Kenya by providing funding, coaching and access to a strong international network.
In cooperation with several Swiss SMEs, we are able to organise the next Start-up Award to establish and develop sustainable business models. The SMEs thus make a direct contribution to economic and social development – while also benefiting from intercultural exchange. The amount per SME would be CHF 8,800.

Implementation
The Start-up Award is conducted online and is aimed at selected young entrepreneurs in Kenya. Participants are selected through a structured selection process.

The Aiducation Start-up Award impresses with its holistic approach, which consistently translates education into sustainable economic independence. The combination of financial start-up assistance, professional mentoring and an international network addresses key success factors for effective entrepreneurship in a local context. Particularly noteworthy is the potential for multiplying impact, as supported entrepreneurs not only secure their own income, but also create jobs and strengthen local value creation. The project exemplifies how targeted investments in young people enable long-term social and economic development.
We will send the donation receipt (for Switzerland) in January of the following year.
