Many thanks for your support, which meant we were able to complete the project successfully. You can see the impact of the donations for yourself in the video which has been produced. In the introduction you can find the video for the project.
Project SummaryThe project aims to build adequate sanitation facilities in a rural village in Uganda. The construction of safe toilets will improve the educational environment, reduce health risks and strengthen the presence, attention and academic performance of the students.

Background

Kabayingire village in Jinja district, Uganda, is a rural community facing challenges in its educational institutions. The schools lack proper sanitation facilities, particularly safe toilets for girls, which hinders their attendance during menstruation. Victoria Junior School, serving 348 students from diverse backgrounds, is currently grappling with a severe shortage of adequate sanitary facilities, posing health risks and affecting the well-being of its students. The poorly maintained washrooms create discomfort and anxiety, leading to decreased attention spans during school hours. The urgency and significance of our Safe Toilets project are highlighted by these pressing issues.

Idea

The project aims to construct a new latrine facility at Victoria Junior School in Kabayingire village, Uganda. Equipped with multiple stalls, proper ventilation, and efficient waste management systems, the safe toilets will promote a clean and hygienic environment for the students. By providing improved sanitation facilities, the project seeks to enhance students' health, attendance, and academic performance while restoring their dignity. Ultimately, the initiative strives to create a positive impact on the entire community, promoting better hygiene practices and encouraging a conducive learning environment for the students.

Implementation

  1. Project Introduction: Last month, representatives from Go Green Africa visited Victoria Junior School to discuss the implementation of the "Go Back to School" project. The focus of the discussion was on the urgent need for safe toilets in the school.

  2. Importance of Safe Toilets: When washrooms are not properly maintained, students feel anxious about using them, leading to decreased attention spans during classes. By providing safe toilets, students' health and hygiene will be improved, reducing the likelihood of waterborne diseases and minimizing school absenteeism.

  3. Project Goal: Go Green Africa aims to raise 2500 CHF to set up safe latrines for the students at Victoria Junior School. The funds will cover the cost of materials, labor, and other necessary expenses associated with the construction.

  4. Benefits: Access to proper sanitation facilities will have far-reaching benefits for the students. It will restore their dignity, encourage better learning, and improve the overall hygiene of the school. Students will no longer have to leave school in search of toilets, enabling them to stay in school longer and focus on their studies.

Go Green Africa kindly requests financial assistance from donors to support this initiative. By contributing to the construction of safe toilets, donors will significantly impact the health, safety, and well-being of the students at Victoria Junior School. Improving sanitation facilities will enhance students' quality of life, attendance, and academic performance.

By implementing the project of safe toilets at Victoria Junior School, Go Green Africa aims to make a lasting impact on the lives of the students and promote a healthier, more conducive learning environment. With your support, we can work towards building a better future for the students of Kabayingire village.

Successful completion of the "safe toilets"!

Despite massive rainfall in Uganda in recent weeks, the toilets for the pupils of Victoria Junior School have been built. Thank you very much for your support!

Dear incredible supporters of There-For-You, We are thrilled to share the wonderful news that, thanks to your generous contributions, the Safe Toilet Project at Victoria Junior School is now a reality! The students at the school now have access to clean and safe toilets, improving their overall hygiene and well-being. We sincerely apologize for the delay in delivering this project report. Unfortunately, heavy rains in Uganda posed significant challenges, making construction a formidable task.

The rain has been relentless, akin to cats and dogs pouring from the sky every day. Despite these obstacles, we persevered, and we are overjoyed to announce that after three weeks of hard work, the construction is now complete. Your unwavering support has made a lasting impact on the lives of these students, providing them with a fundamental necessity for a healthy and dignified learning environment. Here is a glimpse of the newly constructed toilets:

Your compassion and commitment have transformed a vision into a reality, and for that, we extend our deepest gratitude. Together, we’ve made a positive difference in the lives of these students, and we couldn’t have done it without each and every one of you. Thank you for being there for us, and, more importantly, for being there for them. With heartfelt thanks,

Project goal achieved - soon the construction of the toilets will begin!

First of all, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all donors and the there-for-you foundation for choosing to support our project.

With our fundraising now 100% complete, we are looking forward to the future with excitement to start the implementation phase. Time is of the essence as the upcoming rainy season can make latrine construction challenging. When heavy rains accumulate in the latrine pits, it becomes incredibly difficult for workers to continue their digging and construction work.

Our goal is to complete construction and provide you with a comprehensive progress report before the rainy season begins. We want to keep you informed step by step and show you the incredible impact your generosity is having.
