Señor Armando worked hard for his dream of running a restaurant 20 years ago. He found his dream location right on the beach, in a great neighbourhood. Due to two big hurricanes in the 90s that destroyed the breakwaters in front of the city, there was a restructuring of the beaches in the coastal city of Cartagena de Indias. In the process, the sea completely flooded the beach in front of Armando's house and eventually his restaurant. This not only destroyed his restaurant, but also his home. As a single father, his livelihood was thus taken away from him. To date, no support has come from the city of Cartagena or the state of Colombia, nor have the breakwaters been rebuilt as promised.
In addition, a 42-storey building was constructed directly behind Armando's house in 2018. This severely damaged the roof and 2nd floor of Armanod's house. The building owner covered the cost of a new roof, but the majority of the 2nd floor remained destroyed.
Armando, together with his son, fights day by day for the restoration of his house. Every "Colombian peso" is put into the house. However, due to various difficulties and financial shortages, the restoration has been delayed for years.
