Survival aid for strays in the icy winter

Project SummaryHelping Romanian stray animals to survive during the icy winter months: the Citydogs4Streetdogs association aims to provide animal shelters and stray animals with urgently needed food and support financially strapped organisations. Every donation helps to alleviate the suffering of the animals and improve their living conditions.

Background

In Romania, stray animals and animal shelters face considerable challenges, especially during the winter months. The bitter cold and acute food shortages exacerbate the already difficult living conditions of these animals. In addition, the price of basic foodstuffs has doubled, forcing many people to abandon their pets. Thousands of dogs and cats are struggling to survive. The project aims to improve the situation on the ground and both minimise the suffering of the animals and raise awareness for their protection.

Idea

Our aim is to provide sustainable support for stray animals and animal shelters in Romania so that they can survive the icy winter months. With this project we want to:

  1. Care for street animals: We provide stray dogs and cats with food at feeding centres to ensure their survival and build trust. This also facilitates medical help in the long term.

  2. Support animal shelters: Many animal shelters are struggling with rising costs and limited resources. We provide food and help animal shelters that are struggling financially.

  3. Promote education: We aim to raise awareness of animal welfare and support responsible pet ownership in Romania to reduce animal suffering in the long term.

Every donation helps to get starving animals through the winter and give them a better future.

Implementation

Thanks to your donations, we buy bags of food and distribute them to animal shelters and feeding centres for stray animals:

  • Dry dog food: a 10kg bag costs CHF 10.

  • Dry cat food: 12 kg costs CHF 45.

  • Wet food for sick and young cats: The supply for one month is CHF 300.

We want to ensure that the animals receive enough food to get through the winter healthy and strong. Every contribution, regardless of the amount, has a direct and positive impact on the lives of the animals. Thank you very much for your support!
