Sun protection for the dogs from Vâlcea
Project SummaryDoris and Karin want to build some sun roofs for an animal shelter in Romania. The shelter does not offer any protection from the heat at the moment. Support them and donate now!
Background
Nicoleta and Florentina, two women with unbelievably big hearts, work non-stop for the poorest. They look where others look away. They care for the homeless, the injured, the outcast and the abandoned.
In addition to their many activities in the public kennel, they started a basic shelter camp in a "flood area" over 10 years ago. After years of animal welfare work and a lot of commitment, they were able to acquire a new, dry and beautiful site thanks to donations. Since there is a lack of helpers as well as money, there is hardly any progress. The fence is in place, but there is no capacity to transport the 150 dogs from the old camp to the new one. We will take over this task in July. Also there are already another 50 dogs that should get a place. After the moving in July there will be constantly 150 - 300 dogs living in the camp. The biggest wish is to find a family for EVERY dog. The feral or too traumatized dogs, the so called "unadoptables", are allowed to spend the rest of their lives in the care of the camp. Unfortunately, since dogs are found, hit by cars, thrown out or abandoned every day, the suffering does not stop and the space is getting smaller and smaller.
It is planned by Nico & Flo, as soon as the donations are together, to acquire the neighboring property in addition, in order to arrange there a gigantic free run. There are still some projects to realize in the future, in which we gladly support the two selfless women.
But now they need some shade for the existing area. At the moment there are neither trees nor any other protection against the power of the sun. And the dogs could not survive the summer there at all.

Idea
We would like to help the homeless, needy and wonderful souls from Vâlcea to make the summer more bearable by building them shady places. Since we are skilled craftsmen, we can put up the roofs ourselves. We (some private people from Switzerland) are going to Vâlcea in July to help the tireless women. The plan for the sun roofs is designed, the material costs are calculated. Now we have one month left to finance the material. We depend on your support and hope that you will help to make the life of the faithful and grateful souls more bearable.

If we get the sum of at least CHF 1900 together, we can buy material for 6 sun roofs. Since the roofs have to withstand wind and weather, we cannot just hammer a few posts into the ground and stretch a tarpaulin over them. It should be solid and durable. If we reach CHF 2500, we can safely put up 8 large sun roofs. The costs are calculated for triangle sun sails 5x5 meters. We will fix solid posts and set them in concrete. If there is a possibility, we will also plant trees as more natural shade for the following years and to increase biodiversity. If there is a surplus, we will use it to purchase dog pools.

Impact analysis by there for you specialists
Dogs cannot sweat. Longer stays in the burning sun can therefore put the dogs in extreme danger of their lives. Therefore, it is even more important that these sun roofs, as well as other protective devices, are built before the dogs move into their new homes. In general, too little can never be done in the area of street animals, as they will always exist.
