Last wishes know no bounds - Wish Mobile Lake Constance
Project SummaryMany final wishes go unfulfilled because the necessary infrastructure is lacking. Wunschmobile Bodensee aims to change that—across borders in the Lake Constance region. With a donation of 60,000 CHF, we can create a “Wunschmobil” to provide dignified final journeys. Please help!
Background
Many people nearing the end of their lives have a final wish: to visit a special place one last time, to go out one last time, or to experience something meaningful one last time.
Yet it is precisely during this phase that the essential requirements are often lacking: medical support, suitable vehicles, and available infrastructure. As a result, many final wishes remain unfulfilled.
In Switzerland alone, the existing organization Wunschambulanz.ch SAW has already made over 600 final wishes come true. At the same time, daily practice reveals clear limitations:
There is also a significant service gap in the Lake Constance region: Currently, there is no organization that makes it possible to fulfill final wishes across borders—even though the need is clearly there.

- Requests often come too late
- Capacities are limited
- Geographical distances make implementation difficult

Idea
The “Wunschmobile Bodensee” project marks the first structured service offering for the entire four-country region: Switzerland, Germany, Austria, and Liechtenstein.
Its operational base is in Büsingen am Hochrhein, a German enclave within Switzerland. This unique geographical configuration will also enable access to EU-aligned funding mechanisms while maintaining access to the Swiss economic area.
Wunschmobile Bodensee is organizationally independent but works closely with the existing Wunschambulanz and builds on its experience. As a key development, the project specifically integrates a fringe benefit model into the healthcare sector. An initial report on this has already appeared in the Südkurier (PDF).
Healthcare institutions such as hospitals, nursing homes, Spitex organizations, and emergency services allow their employees to accompany wish-fulfillment activities as paid work time. At the same time, these professionals also volunteer within the network and are available for additional assignments. Whenever possible, staff members who already know the person in question are involved. This ensures that care remains familiar and continuous, medical quality is guaranteed, and assignment coordination is significantly simplified.
This allows wish trips to be carried out more quickly, efficiently, and with a high degree of reliability.

Implementation
In the initial phase, Wunschmobile Bodensee is using an existing vehicle from Wunschambulanz. However, this vehicle already has over 600,000 kilometers on the odometer, has completed hundreds of missions, and has only a limited remaining service life.
To ensure long-term service, a dedicated, specially equipped Wunschmobile is needed. The necessary modifications include:
The goal is not a superficial adaptation of existing ambulances, but a reliable emergency vehicle that can be deployed regularly, flexibly, and even under demanding conditions to fulfill wishes. The cost of the professional conversion is CHF 60,000.
The base vehicle is provided through a partnership. The goal is to put it into service in spring 2027

Initiators
The “Wunschmobile Bodensee” initiative was founded by Nataša Stojanović.
She is supported by her partner, Petar Sabovic, who serves as a technical advisor and co-founder. Both have been actively involved with wunschambulanz.ch SAW for many years and have helped fulfill over 600 wishes. Their motivation is personal: both lost their fathers and were unable to fulfill their final wishes.
“We want to be the force that transforms wishes into memories and gives seriously ill people back a sense of normalcy, joy, and dignity.”
In collaboration with the “there-for-you” Foundation. Donations from Switzerland are tax-deductible.
If you wish to make a donation via payment slip, the corresponding template is available here: Wunschmobile Bodensee Payment Slip (PDF)
