Project SummarySara has suffered from severe trauma and psychological stress since childhood, which severely affects her everyday life. An assistance dog would help her to deal with her difficult situation in the best possible way.

Background

Since my childhood, I have suffered from severe trauma and psychological stress, which severely affects my everyday life. Dissociations, flashbacks and nightmares in particular make it difficult for me to lead a normal life. An assistance dog would not only be an emotional support for me, but would also help me in acute situations such as panic attacks or dissociations by calming me down and bringing me back to reality. He also gives me a sense of security that I have never experienced before. He would be a loyal companion who would help me to cope with my everyday life and regain a better quality of life.

Idea

An assistance dog can make a lasting improvement to my life. Through targeted training, it learns to support me in critical moments - be it panic attacks, dissociations or nightmares. He helps me to feel safer, to master everyday tasks and gives me the love and security that I have lacked so far. With his help, I can gradually find my way back to a more self-determined life.

Implementation

I plan to train my assistance dog myself in order to build up a close relationship of trust. I will be supported by professional trainers who will guide me through each phase of the training. This combination of self-training and expert guidance ensures that the dog is optimally adapted to my needs and that I build a strong, personal bond with it. This enables him to help me in the best possible way in difficult situations.
The costs for my assistance dog are as follows:

Cost estimate 1 (training by AH-Zentrum Schweiz): 5470.

Cost estimate 2 (total costs 1st year - self-training by dog school - vet - health insurance and accident insurance): 4810.-

Dog tax: 200.-

Castration (male dog): 500.-

Dog purchase: 1500.-

Travel: 500.-

Total: 12980.-

I, as a person affected by severe psychological trauma, am the initiator of this project. I am supported by professional trainers who accompany me in the training of my assistance dog and ensure that it is specifically trained to meet my needs.
